The work carried out in Pontycymmer Fire Station involved the installation of mechanical services in accordance with the following :-

General Description Of System


LPHW Heating General Description

Heating is provided to the existing Fire Station and new extension via a new Ecodan
11.2kw Monoblock ASHP installation. Heating flow and return is provided to the new
radiators in the existing refurbished part of the building and the new extension
radiators via a system of copper pipework terminating in radiators positioned
throughout the building and as indicated on the record drawings. Each radiator
which has been oversized and in many cases are vertical radiators (due to lower
temperature off ASHP) each radiator has its own thermostatic radiator control
valve.


Domestic Services

Domestic hot water system is also provided by means of a system of copper
distribution pipework via the MCWS which terminates in taps throughout the
installation . Each whb is also fitted with a tmv3 mini mixing valve or thermotap to
ensure temperatures are between 42 to 45degrees. Hot water is provided to
kitchenette, B A Room, Disabled Toilet & Unisex WC Via 2no oversink water heaters
complete with unvented kits mounted in a cupboard in Unisex WC& Shower Room.
Please note the hot water to the BA Room should be run periodically to ensure that
water does not become stagnant.
A hot water Hydroboil has been provided in the kitchenette for tea making facilities.
There is an electric shower in the Unisex WC which runs off the MCWS. MCWS is
provided via a connection into the existing main the MAIN STOP COCK is located in
the Appliance bay to the left of the doorway. A system of copper pipework serves all
outlets off this main and a connection into the main has been made at high level and
distributes mcws to all outlets including new extension Gym drinking fountain and
machine.


General Extract Ventilation

Ventilation is provided my means of wall mounted fans and panel mounted fans.
Extracted air passes through a system of ducting or flexible duct terminating in
outside air grilles. All Fan operated by multi fan speed controller or via pir as
indicated on the record drawings.


BMS Controls

The BMS system is costructed around the Trend IQ 4 range of controllers and
components. The main control panel incorporates IQ view 4 panel with 10963
software to operate and monitor automation. The BMS also includes a web browser
interface for remote access via the clients network and this shall incorporate full
active graphics to facilitate interrogation for status monitoring/plant enable/disable,
system temperatures, systems operational changes, i.e. temperature set-points,
time schedules, and data/trend logging for all energy meters. In addition to this the
BMS has supplied and installed and commissioned the system into the existing BMS
frontend at SWFR headquarters in Llantristant. Remote access will not be
permitted.
